Vanity 6 - Vanity 6

Prince has provided himself an amazing sexual angst driven legacy full of awkwardness, pure emotional love and disturbing sexually charged innuendos that freak everyone out. Commercially speaking this is all too amazingly gorgeous and amazing. Vanity 6 is just one of his projects in an all too full pallet of amazing pop and synth driven acts. Vanity 6 was carried on the shoulders of three very sexy long legged women who more or less carried the job they had to deliver with their music and perverted sound quite well, sometimes a little too well. The album is full on synth ridden funky jams, akin to Princes own songs, near pornographic lyrics and a style that creeps onto you with the first song, the ever infamous 'Nasty Girl'. If that song isn't enough to get you into this album then 'He's So Dull' will seal the deal, throwing around a nice funky beat and lyrics with a deranged 'i'm better than this dumb fuck' attitude... so good. 'Bite the Beat' definitely has the best sound on the album, with a drum machine beat that's so simple and familiar with a backing keys sound that relishes in the drum machines pattern, the vocals, well, what more can you expect than something just too good to pass up, nothing. The song 'If A Girl Answers (Don't Hang Up)' is one of the silliest songs to ever be recorded in an album this serious, Prince guest stars in here as either a homosexual or floozy, I can't tell, either way it fits. The last song on here has a serious sound to it that probably would make it to any top 40 list in the 80's but listening to the lyrics... well... you should listen to them for yourself. This trio, for what they're worth, deliver some of the best pop songs of our time, sexually charged in a way that can never be topped.
