With a distorted look, containing full on Polka Dots and a somewhat Gothic Geisha guise, and an ability to create over popish yet deeply satisfying songs, Strawberry Switchblade formed in Glasgow punk scene in the late 70's. Their #5 UK hit 'Since Yesterday' is one of the most interesting music videos I have ever set my eyes upon:
Very overall poppy. I mean, it's nicely done pop with very dark undertones and gimmicky artistic leanings which combine to create one satisfyingly New Wave album that cannot ever be overshadowed or redone. The album is full of un-hate able one hit wonder singles, that never made it to the airwaves, believe it or not. Think of a more under produced and youthful Heaven Or Las Vegas, but I can't promise you if you'll find the same greatness that resides in HOLV. I don't have much to say about this album because it's a bit classic, no words can describe how close to greatness this band gets and how sadly short their career was. Since Yesterday does open up the album thrusting you quickly into a quirky and memorable pop album. Look, just get it already!
