this is the E.P. released by tweegazes newest favorites, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart. the hype machine this band created has not really initialized any backlash, unlike the rest of this years hip bands. such great song writing and clever lyrics have always been a staple of this bands awesome sound regime, and this E.P. no doubt confirms it. The S/T song "The Pains of Being Pure At Heart" is probably the most uplifting song created within the past years time and does hold a spot in being one of the most catchiest songs i've heard in a great deal of time. so far so good with this band, i can only hope the best for them.
soundwise, this is a nice mixture of the more popular sounds The Pastels dolled out, along with a great vibe found in The Shop Assistants and at times the male vocals remind me of Moz's former band The Smiths, along with lots of "This Charming Man" worship when detailing the guitars. this is really light and smooth music, no rough edges or long droned out snooze fests.
