high pop - hippie speed ball

It's a really shitty hot summer day. This is summer music that wasn't intentionally done for summer, perhaps, yet it is the audio avatar of making today seem like a pretty normally okay day. They kind of follow the ultra sugary pop sound of rocking out with fuzzed out guitars and vokills that must be listened to more than once in order to be picked up. I think I'm not so in tune with this type of power pop as I feel this band brings something new to my ears. I mean, the first two tracks are the type of songs that just do their own thing, but starting with track 3 (seaweed) something happens and the band gets weird. Not necessarily too weird, but obviously not just surf rock influenced. They got some weird psychedelic garage thing going on. That's not something so far out either though, especially nowadays. Maybe it's just hitting all the right spots for me right now. If you have dug the crop of stuff places like Burger Records have repped for the past couple of years then you'll have a fine time digging on this.
