This is really spot on youthful electronic music with hip hop tendencies. Some really groovy melodies and happy sounding songs with charismatic vocals outline the basics of this album. On the Stones Throw label, which is run by Peanut Butter Wolf who, in my opinion, has released some of the most youthful and vigorous hip hop to have ever been released.
As many of you know (don't know), Peanut Butter Wolf teamed up with Charizma and made one of the most hip albums to ever be thrown around, the infamous 'Big Shots'. James Pants continues the tradition of hip hop with really light subject matter, apple juice and full on being alive. Being one of the better up and coming artists I have listened too lately, I am confused why I personally like it. It's not anything new or innovative and it doesn't stray from its comfort zone, but maybe with that notion is the basis for why James Pants and his albums are entirely enjoyable, it sounds new in a very old way that we all recognize. You know this guy isn't claiming anything to build his reputation, you know he's not going to threaten you and I don't think he really cares if you dislike his music; he plays every instrument in the album! The vibes he sets are so out there on a creative level that we can all feel friendly and drink some apple juice.
I really think he's good, even for a quirky guy. I hope you enjoy. Visit his page on the Stones Throw website, it describes everything better.
