This is some really beautiful electronic music that really grabs my attention. While the likes of The Bloody Beatroots and Chromeo have begun to gain fame and notoriety, bands such as Memory Cassette have pushed the boundaries of electronic aesthetic. Being danceable and beautiful in a deadly mixture that at once sends shivers through your spine. This all too memorable ep is the product of one man, who offers varied music of this style under various monikers; but all things aside, it is all essentially the same band.
This style, for the past few months, has been growing in notoriety on the blogscape and music forums, mainly for it sounding very tired and bored. Keep in mind that this was released before Neon Indian and Toro Y Moi and possibly Duck Tails. And although I will admit to not liking the terms Chill Wave or Glo Fi, it suits Memory Cassette fine as long as the music stays interesting, innovative, beautiful and mesmerizing. Highly recommended.
