There are a lot of things that I do not know about, even enough to throw down a little review or tall tell account of my experiences with a certain recording. With that being said, I have never heard of anything quite like Fantastic Plastic Machine, it's really groovy and certainly more lounged out than a certain French Lounge Cd I bought when I was barely getting into this whole 'there are other types of music besides rap, rock, and country' deal. So this 'beautiful.' album, it gives me a much needed lounge vibe that I haven't tasted in quite sometime, and it is something I doubt I will ever know much about. Let me give you a cut and paste on Fantastic Plastic Machine via last.fm:
Tomoyuki Tanaka is a J-pop artist/DJ, better known by his stage name of Fantastic Plastic Machine. He is considered to be part of the Shibuya-kei movement, drawing heavily from bossa nova, lounge music, house music, and ’60s movie soundtracks, but he also incorporates many other types of music.
In the early 1990's Tanaka became a regular club DJ in the Kansai area, working as part of a DJ team known as Sound Impossible. While playing with Sound Impossible, fellow artist and friend Towa Tei convinced Tanaka to go back to recording music. His first two albums, The Fantastic Plastic Machine (1997) and Luxury (1998), were critically acclaimed and gained him international recognition. In Japan, he is currently under the cutting edge label.
So there you have it, a Japanese artist creating very smooth and untouchable electronic music with very sound and soft vibes. The album 'beautiful.' is very creative and I can't hate it one bit. If this blog were to have a scale, this would be scaled at 7.5/10.
Fantastic Plastic Machine - beautiful.
