Washed Out - 2010 Tour CD-R

Although I am not readily a fan of the term Chillwave (and etc), I do have to say that the artists representing the 'genre' are insanely good at what they do. It's horrible to say that they are all falling in the clash of hipster news and updates though, but I can sense that Washed Out seems to not mind. Maybe with all the commotion and uproar this man has decided to experiment with more rewind techniques, sounding like a plexi pop spin off rather than the Chill Wave bro fest that has taken the nation by storm. Even though these artists already sound easily dated and obscure, this Tour CD-R further pushes that aspect. It's insanely melodic and brooding with near depressed vocals that hide maturation and longing. The drum machines are simple and the keys/synths overtake you with broadening sounds that liven up your daily activity's. As a left field find for me (didn't know this existed) I'll have to say that, song by song, it has to be my favorite release of this type, It has more to offer in terms of different noises and musical styles (track five!). Obviously if you're already a fan of Neon Indian, Toro Y Moi, Memory Cassette, some Telepathe and some Thieves Like Us then you're in for a treat.
