Unfortunately, although highly enjoyable, Cold Wave and it's genre friends seem to be some of the least understood genres out there. Along with them being a 'you wouldn't understand unless you were there' type of thing, they are also an 'i've bought a lot of these 7"s before they got popular two years ago' thing as well. Because of this, fans and music alike has been oversaturated and less and less enjoyable than when the mystery was still mysterious in 2006, and I'm not going to lie to you this was more of a summer of 2008 thing for me. So sue me and give me a late pass, nobody should mind at all that much, at least I think so. The main thing that bothers me is that there are twenty two words to say the same style of music and on this compilation you are given no direct answer. Let's all just say that Cold Wave, Minimal Wave, Synth Pop, Minimal Synth, etc ARE in fact the same style of music generated within the same time frame (even though I highly assumed that Cold Wave had less to with synthesizers and more to do with region {France}). It's all so delicious to the ears and highly influential too, the names were just forgotten. On here you get hits that were on other compilations, but you also get hits that weren't. It's a give or take world. Here's the blog that coincides with this release.
