Nirvana started out as a live band. Don't all bands? That's from some Kurt Cobain book I read in high school. Well no not all bands Kurt, especially not all DJs, especially not in 2010. Entire electro careers are launched and sustained on the strengths of slick homebrew production. DIY-with-infinite-options is something available to anyone with a PC and interent access nowadays, aka everyone reading this.
However, Rusko stands alone. He has been pioneering styles within the hype bass heavy dubstep movement since 2006. He got his name up through insanely high energy live shows, which his sound is custom designed to make an guaranteed explosive time in the club. After a ton of EPs and mixes and remixes over the last 4 years, he finally put out his first full length LP back in May.
Each track represents said hype bass heavy dubstep sound, but in literally every conceivable style of electronic music. And it comes off pretty cohesively. It is impressive to see the wobble bass incorporated into reggae, jungle, techno, house, straight dub, dirty south hip hop, french house, & disco all in one album and it never comes off and contrived or out of place or even annoying. This is a good one equally for the car or headphones, it just sounds better and better the louder it is pumping.
