Television were one of CBGB's most beloved acts in the late 70's, their sound was punk defining in that they are credited with being one of the first bands to have the post punk sound aesthetic. Marquee Moon is their debut album that never garnered them any wide spread success even though it was always widely acclaimed. It is stated to be contain on of the best guitar tracks ever (the s/t song) as well as being one of the best albums ever made; it is one of the few to land on well regarded top lists over and over. And while those things shouldn't matter, it should just key you in that this band had something that no other band had quite enough of, sadly it's one of those things that will never and can never be duplicated. Dark, mysterious and oddly enchanting.
