Grandaddy is, for me, the godfather of all things I have come to know as rock music (this encases all those other genre's too; punk and metal..). Grandaddy is from a time where beardos listened to either Black Sabboth or indie music like Grandaddy themselves not bands like Mastodon or Four Year Strong. Beards.
The EP is four songs of under-produced rock flavor, really satisfying to the ears and not as harsh as other bands; it is basically what you have come to expect from a Grandaddy album. Interesting enough, Jeddy 3's poem is a showcase of what's to come on their smash hit album The Sophtware Slump (an album released a year or less later), making me think that somehow all the albums are linked together by more than just a concept of isolation in an electronic world. Nonetheless, these tunes are airy, rocking, spaced out, furious and GRAND.
