Starts off a bit sludgey, or rocky, 70's hard rock stuff. Then quickly segues into a modern psychedelia with obvious punk/indie leanings. Formed sometime in 1998 and released a slew of super hip recordings, some being recorded by Anton Newcombe and others released by Fugazi's Joe Lally and recorded especially for a special Peel Session. Dead Meadow is honest to god amazing, with sinister spooky vibes and an enchanted audio aura to their albums that it is no wonder that they have been greeted with such good press. Old Growth is charismatic and charming, but heavy and hearty, gives you good spoonfuls of guitar effects and impeccable drumming; the lyrics are good too and the vocal delivery is amazing, lazy and yearning without ever being whiny, but as you will learn, they blend into the full recording becoming part of the bigger picture than just something you pick up and stick with.
