James Pants - James Pants

Have been a fan of the Pants for a few years now, ever since I first listened to his Welcome album and was blown away. Putting it simply when I first discovered that album I changed my myspace default that picture of him at Target or wherever in the Tide laundry detergent isle with a mspaint'ed heart around him with the words "TRUE LOVE" as the caption. That album was a little more electronically influenced and somehow James Pants has altered whatever ego he has and made the shift to playing dreamy, atmospheric type music... or whatever. A few songs, dare I say it, play with blissbeat tendencies and others sound like his old self. I want to say that his next album will surely be a shoegaze album, I can see the transition from this one (which has some darker new wave/cold wave vibes with honest drenched-in-reverb everything) to imitating The Ecstasy Of Saint Theresa's older material. Well, if you haven't figured it out I'm trying to get a bit of text in here and haven't really been typing honestly, basically this album goes all over the place with its influences (shoegaze, new wave, every other wave, funk, psychadelia), I'm not ashamed to admit that I like it a lot and hope that his next album isn't influenced by the Tyler, The Creator goons that have discovered him as of late and that he keeps his work honest and free flowing, one of the top five of 2011.
